In June, at the OECD’s Ministerial Council Meeting, the Recommendation on Children in the Digital Environment was formally adopted.
The OECD Recommendation on Children in the Digital Environment sets out the principles for ensuring a safe and beneficial digital environment for children, establishes recommendations and highlights the importance of international cooperation.
This Recommendation recognizes both the integral role of the digital environment in the daily lives of our children and the urgent need to support policy makers and other stakeholders to create safe, beneficial and equitable conditions for all children.
This approach focuses on updating legal and policy responses to technological advances, developing evidence, and creating coherent policy responses. The Recommendation is divided into 4 main areas: principles for a safe and beneficial digital environment for children; policy framework; international cooperation; and guidelines for digital service providers.
