In its role as the national authority for Technical Regulations and Legal Metrology, the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC) carried out inspection visits to the scales located at the El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá. The Superintendence of Transportation supported the work as the inspection and surveillance authority of infrastructure and transportation in Colombia.
The purpose of these visits was to verify that the scales with which the passengers' luggage of the air transport service is weighed were adjusted so that consumers can rely on the quality of the measurements of these instruments.
The Superintendent of Industry and Commerce, Andrés Barreto González, was present in the inspection and surveillance work and highlighted the importance of airlines having calibrated scales that give travelers greater confidence, also stressed the importance of making this type of visits together with the Superintendence of Transportation, bringing the institutional framework to the field in a coordinated manner and always seeking to favor consumers.
