The Deputy for Competition Protection prevents and investigates conduct restrictive of competition and ensures the protection of Free Economic Competition in all markets in the country. The main purposes of the Office to create a culture of competition through preventive and corrective functions of the markets are the welfare of consumers, economic efficiency in national markets and the free participation of companies in the markets.
FRANCISCO MELO RODRÍGUEZ
Lawyer, specialist in financial and commercial law, and master's degree in law from Universidad de Los Andes. He has been official of the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce for more than thirteen years. At the superintendence, he has been Coordinator of the Unfair Competition and Industrial Property Group, the Group of Protection and Promotion of Competition and the Elite Group against Collusion. His last charge was Advisor to the office of the Superintendent Delegate for the Protection of Competition.
