On May 20 of 1975, seventeen countries got together in order to establish cooperation mechanisms aiming at unifying worldwide measurement standards. The result of this meeting was the Metre Convention, which sets the framework for global collaboration in the science of measurement and its industrial, commercial and social application.
This year's topic: "Measurements and the global energy challenge" is a wide subject of great interest for all countries, due to the importance of energy in its different daily applications, and its impact over development. Well measured energy it is still a challenge for some countries that do not have proper measurement politics.
