The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) granted its recognition to the Republic of Colombia as a country that offers an adequate level of data protection.
According to this organization, the Colombian regulatory framework on Personal Data protection is aligned with the DIFC's Personal Data Protection Law. This means that transfers of personal data from that jurisdiction to Colombia will have equivalent protection.
This is Colombia's first recognition of its adequate level of data protection in the international stage.
The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce is aware of the importance of cooperation between international data protection authorities and will continue to work to consolidate Colombia as a safe destination for the international transfer of personal data and consequently obtain the recognition of adequate level of protection of personal data by other countries.
