The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce, as National Authority for Consumer Protection, sanctioned DIRECTV COLOMBIA, with a fine of COP $245,000,000 for failing to comply with the right of users to have their requests and complaints addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
The SIC analyzed the complaints filed by consumers and noticed that users obtained – in theory – favorable responses to their requests from the company. However, DIRECTV COLOMBIA chose to ignore their initial will, regardless of losing the user’s confidence who believed that their disputes had been resolved.
DIRECTV failed to comply with the duty to deal effectively and definitively with the disagreements raised by consumers.
